This painting is a combination of several photographs plus the ideas in my head from a visit to Bunratty Ireland.
Step 2
Although not the greatest photo, there is plenty to like about this Irish street. It just needs a little design help to make it into a great painting subject. This shows the two photographs, the thumbnail value study and the finished painting.
Step 3
A thumbnail sketch allows me to plan the composition and come up with a satisfactory design. I use the rooster from one photo along with the cottage from the other and combine the elements.
Step 4
The finished painting is a combination of several ideas, and a little artistic license, but stays true to the feel of the place. Without the interpretation of the artist it is not truly art, merely a copy of nature.
