I had the privilege recently to participate in a great outdoor oil painting workshop with one of my favorite plein air artists, Brian Mark Taylor. What a pleasure to be able to watch him sort out the values and colors as he created a number of on location studies. Knowing that I am primarily a watercolor painter, he patiently guided me through some wonderful techniques that really helped my oil landscapes. We each completed about eight 8 x 10 studies while painting in Zion National Park, Mount Carmel, and along the river in the Barracks. Thanks to Paul and Susan Bingham and the Thunderbird Foundation at the famous Maynard Dixon Property in Mt. Carmel Utah for organizing the event.
