As I planned this painting I wanted to create a calm, peaceful feeling. I hope that the viewer will feel this too. I want to lead the viewer into the painting and guide them deep into the distance. The two big bushes in the middle initially draw the viewer in, then hopefully the viewer will want to peek behind the two big Ponderosas and wander back into the trees and hills only vaguley noticed at first. The role of the painter is to create the illusion of depth on a two-dimensional surface. How did I do?
