This fall I will be participating in the first Invitational Milford Zornes Watercolor Paint Out at Mt. Carmel, UT. In 1963, watercolorist Milford Zornes bought Maynard Dixon’s Summer Home and Studio in Mt. Carmel, Utah from Dixon’s widow, Edith Hamlin. Afterwards, Zornes organized annual watercolor workshops for fellow artists and students so they could paint together. In the spirit of Zornes’ vision there’s going to be a gathering of artists who paint in watercolor, October 11-15, 2017.
Organized by watercolor artist Carolyn Lord, with assistance from Spike Ress, the event is generously supported by The Thunderbird Foundation Fine Art Gallery with hosts Susan and Paul Bingham, founders of The Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts and restorers of the Maynard Dixon Home & studio, in Mt Carmel, Utah.
Niether a competition or a public event, the invitational paint-out allows watercolor artists to gather, socialize, and paint outdoors in the East Zion area. During the event plein air paintings will be on display in the gallery area and available for purchase. Collectors are welcome, but there are no planned special activities or seminars.
Call Roland Lee for information on where he will be painting. 435-673-1988
