Taylor Creek Trail – Zion National Park Kolob
Watercolor Painting of Taylor Creek Trail at Zion National Park’s Kolob Fingers
About this Item
Taylor Creek Trail is a fun half-day hike in Zion National Park’s Kolob Fingers section. This painting reflects an experience I had hiking the trail in early Spring. Snow was still on the canyon floor and covered most of the trail, especially in places where the sun doesn’t hit. The day was sunny and the air crisp, just the way I like it. The morning sun cast some strong shadows across portions of the canyon floor, creating a dramatic effect. I did many sketchbook pencil studies during the hike and used them, along with some reference photos to create this painting later in my studio. This painting is also the subject of an instructional DVD. Sold Collection: Frank and Connie Madsen
