Springdale Morning

Original Roland Lee watercolor painting Zion’s cliffs

About this Item

I got up early one morning during the plein air event “In the Footsteps of Thomas Moran” and climbed the foothills above Springdale to capture the cliffs in morning sun. When I completed the plein air painting, I turned and looked to the west and was treated to a view of Zion’s west wall in shadow with the sunlight peaking over its cliffs. I shot some photographs and did this large painting later back in my studio.

This painting was purchased for the permanent collection of the St. George Museum of Art
