Cedar Breaks is a fantastic geological wonderland located on Cedar Mountain in Southern Utah. It has the same geologic structure as its better-known sister, Bryce Canyon National Park further to the east. A trail runs along the rim looking down into a canyon full of hoodoos and towers resembling Chess men. The morning and afternoon light gives it a feeling of neon as the light bounces from structure to structure. The rim trail winds through some of the oldest living plants in existence, the Bristlecone pine. In the springtime, a lovely display of wildflowers greets the visitor. This painting was exhibited at the Zion National Park Plein Air Studio exhibit honoring the centennial of the National Park System in 2016 as well as the Sears Invitational Art Show.
