Winter Comes to Zion

Watercolor painting of Zion National Park

About this Item

Through the winter, Zions days alternate between magnificent and wonderful. If the sun is shining it is a spectacular time to be there. But if you happen to be there on one of the rare occasions when low hanging clouds empty soft fluffy flakes on the red sandstone ledges, it is an ethereal and magical site. This was one of those days. Up-canyon, where there is not much sun, the snow will remain on the ground through the winter. But on the sunny cliffs the white stuff is fleeting. To be there after a fresh snowfall, is one of lifes grand experiences.
