River of Time

Watercolor Painting of Virgin River at Temple of Sinawava Zion National Park

About this Item

The usually placid and peaceful Virgin River runs the length of Zion Canyon. Jagged cliffs rise above it thousands of feet. One of my greatest pleasures while in Zion National Park is to hike on foot from The Temple of Sinawava down-canyon following the meandering river beneath the yellow autumn canopy of Cottonwood Trees. I captured this scene when the light poured through the leafy rooftop creating an unbelievable glow in the canyon. Awards; River of Time was exhibited at the Utah Watercolor Society Spring Open show in 2015 where it won an Award of Excellence. It also received first place ribbon at the St George Art Festival and was selected for exhibit in the 2016 “Our Own Spectacular National Parks” Centennial art show at the St. George Art Museum where it received the “People’s Choice” award. It was purchased by Scott Gubler of Deseret Labs.
