This painting was the subject of one of my instructional videos. I chose to paint from a reference photo of the red cliffs at Kayenta, near Ivins, Utah. The red cliffs, of course, are at the core of many of my landscape paintings, so it was fun to demonstrate my step-by-step methods of layering glazes to build texture and form.
