Inside the Kiva
Painting of Mesa Verde National park
About this Item
This is a view looking up the ladder from within a kiva at Spruce Tree House. This was painted during my two-week artist-in-residency at Mesa Verde National park. Every pueblo and cliff dwelling had several of these below-ground circular rooms which were used for both living and ceremonial purposes by the Ancestral Puebloans.
